"Which Wich? with Josh Gondelman" is Episode 209 of Doughboys, hosted by Mike Mitchell and Nick Wiger. "Which Wich? with Josh Gondelman" was released on June 27, 2019.
Synopsis[]
The 'boys are joined by writer and stand-up comedian Josh Gondelman (Desus & Mero, Last Week Tonight with John Oliver) to review a Dallas-native sandwich chain, Which Wich. Plus, a ranch edition of Drank or Stank.
Nick's intro[]
Chief Vibe Officer: it sounds like a position that would exist at a Silicon Valley tech start-up, or perhaps a particularly self-aware adult-novelty retailer, but it's actually the official title of restaurateur Jeff Sinelli, the founder of one of the fastest-growing sandwich franchises in the world.
Sinelli's first successful chain was Genghis Grill, a Mongolian-barbecue concept that originated in Dallas and marauded its way to conquering five states with eleven locations. He parlayed that success into a more mainstream affair, selling off Genghis Grill in 2003 to open a made-to-order sandwich shop in the Big D.
His sandwich chain's name, which ends in a question mark, hammers home its emphasis on customer service, and its unique ordering system - patrons use Sharpies to mark their sammie choices on paper bags - proved to streamline customization and reduce costly sandwich-making mishaps.
Today, Sinelli, the hippie at heart who built his filled-bread brand on the back of a Mongolian empire, now has nearly 450 locations in 28 countries. Speaking to the Dallas Morning News in 2018, Jeff Sinelli reflected upon his success with a tone one might expect from a man who anoints himself Chief Vibe Officer: "the world of eating out has moved light years ahead in the past 15 years. This is a recalibration of that world and where it's going. It's also a recalibration of Jeff."

“ | Did Which Wich put a spell on me? It wasn't as bewitching as I thought, Nick. The spell was cast when I walked in there and I was ready to be taken with this witches' brew. In the end, biting into that meatball was like biting an eye of newt! | ” |
