Synopsis[]

In a commissioner mandated minisode, first round winner Five Guys battles Shake Shack, the ‘boys having visited their newly opened West Hollywood outlet.

Nick's intro[]

Here comes a new challenger!

As ordered by the Commissioner of the Tournament of Chompions, a battle is now waged by a relative newcomer from New York, which just last week opened its first LA outpost, and the tournament's Cinderella story - the Maryland-based chain that clawed its way both into the Golden Plate Club and the Semi-Soft Finals of Munch Madness 2016.

This week on an emergency Doughboys "One Quarter Portion" minisode, our Burger Brawl is Five Guys vs. Shake Shack.

Let's a-go!

Burger Brawl rules[]

The rules for the Munch Madness: Tournament of Chompions: Burger Brawl are as follows:

  1. Restaurants must have previously appeared on Doughboys.
  2. The three categories that each burger is ranked by are Presentation/Creativity, Condiments/Bun, and Burger/Taste/Juiciness.
  3. Categories are rated on a scale of 0-10 Basketballs, which are arbitrary and meaningless, and they can be overruled by final decision, which is answered by "which burger would you send to Mac from Mac and Me?"
  4. Burgers only! Sides stay on the sidelines. Drinks stay in the Gatorade jug, which is also on the sidelines. Other mains stay in Maine.

To note, this episode was mandated by the Commissioner in the previous episode, due to Nick and Mitch ignoring the rules set forth and continually changing results and winners. The first rule is removed in order to make place for Shake Shack.

Also at the beginning of this episode, Nick disqualifies the results of the previous episode, where Carl's Jr. defeated In-N-Out. Recent news about Carl's Jr.'s CEO wanting to replace workers with robots angered him, and they decide that Carl's Jr. should not have been allowed out of the first round. Thus, In-N-Out is declared the winner of the previous episode. Referee Matty Smith allows it. Nick also then removes Carl's from the Golden Plate Club.

A Statement from the Commissioner[]

Gentlemen,

I am inspired and pleased to see you both here participating in the Minisode. Without its integrity, the Tournament of Chompions is worthless. While I trust both of you to play by the rules tonight, considering the many scandals that have already plagued Munch Madness, I have determined that this Minisode requires officiating.

While I could officiate, as Commissioner, I do not believe it is appropriate for me to overly assert myself into the podcast.

That's why I'm bringing on a special referee for this Minisode. Please welcome, Special Referee, past Doughboys guest, Matty Smith.

–The Commissioner

Which 🍔 is sent to Mac from Mac and Me? 👽
Nick Wiger Shake Shack
Mike Mitchell Five Guys

Shake Shack advances (probably due to the sense that Mitch was trolling by voting for Five Guys; his scores and review were much higher for Shake Shack; also Mitch received a red card and kicked out of the episode).

Nick gives Five Guys the Heart Of The Chompion Award.
