Synopsis[]

Friend of the podcast Evan Susser returns for a follow-up to our controversial Steak ‘n Shake episode. The ‘boys and Suss travel to a full service Steak ‘n Shake in Victorville, California, to get the complete experience. Plus, a new holiday segment called Season’s Eatings.

Susser's intro[]

[ring]

Louis: Good morning. Steak 'n Shake, Louis speaking. How can I help you?

Evan Susser: Hi. I just wanted to check. Uh. This location in Victorville is a full Steak 'n Shake, correct? With a full menu?

Louis: A full Steak 'n Shake?

Evan: With a full menu?

Louis: Yes.

Evan: OK. 'Cause it's not one of those Steak 'n Shakes by Biglari?

Louis: Well, we got... no, it's a whole Steak 'n Shake restaurant. The only one in California, I believe. We do breakfast until 11 and then lunch. It's open 24 hours.

Evan: Great. Do you have the Side By Side shakes?

Louis: What?

Evan: Do you have the Side By Side milkshakes?

Louis: Yes, we do.

Evan: OK, great. Thank you.

Louis: Alright, no problem.

Evan: Alright, bye.

This week on Doughboys, for the final episode of 2015, we return to Steak 'n Shake.

Season's Eatings 🎄[]

This is a new segment during which the Doughboys try a variety of holiday-themed snacks.

The snacks eaten in this segment are a Pepperidge Farm GingerMan, Junior Mints Peppermint Crunch, Jelly Belly Holiday Favorites, Reese's Trees, Peeps Milk Chocolate Covered Mint Marshmallow Trees, Horizon Organic Eggnog and a plain loaf of challah bread. (See pics below.)

The Doughboys simply eat everything, narrating as they go; they do not rate anything on any scale.

Nick does not like Christmas-flavored snacks at all, and wants to leave them all on the side of the road to die (except the Reese's and challah bread).

Quotes[]

Worst year of my life. The show I was on got canceled, back-and-forth relationship thing ended, one of my best friends died, I thought that I was old and a loser for most of the year, and on top of it all -- Doughboys started. The worst thing of all was that Doughboys started.

–Mike Mitchell re: 2015

Constable Zuvio will be like the new Bart Simpson!

–Mike Mitchell

Wiger's really outed himself as a grown man who knows all the Sonic characters.

–Mike Mitchell

The things that enrage you, Mitch, seem to be: The Pats on the verge of defeat, having to wait for a refill, and also interracial dating.

Sonic The Hedgehog Questions[]

Sonic Question
  • Will Sonic appear in Force Awakens?
  • So there is no scene in Force Awakens where Sonic spin attacks Kylo Ren?
  • What will be better, Sonic or Force Awakens?
  • Can you confirm that Finn gets in a lightsaber battle with Big The Cat wielding a fishing pole?
  • What about the rumors that Luke does in fact resurface and he's in the midst of a love triangle with Amy Rose and Rogue The Bat?
  • Can you confirm or deny that Matt Walsh is voicing Knuckles The Echidna in the Sonic the Hedgehog movie?
  • Can you confirm or deny that Shadow the Hedgehog picks up BB-8 and dunks him like a basketball?

Satisfied Reviewers 🌟[]

Somewhat akin to the Unsatisfied Yelper segment, Evan Susser tried to find some unsatisfied reviews of Doughboys. However, he was unsuccessful, and only finds 5 star glowing reviews. He reads some:

I never realized I wanted to listen to an in-depth analysis of chain restaurants, but it turns out... I DO! The podcast is fun and enjoyable and the hosts have a great rapport. Yet another fantastic podcast from the Feral Audio network!
"Doughboys: Not Half Baked"

Nick Wiger and Mike Mitchell. Two comedian/writers doing a podcast about chain restaurants? No, they're not food critics and that's what makes it a great idea! They think like the Joe Everyman (a pretty enlightened thinker, from what I here) and analyze their dining experiences like I, and I assume others, would.

If I wanted to start a podcast, this is exactly what I would do.

The Feedbag[]

I really enjoy eating fast food, but my wife on the other hand is an extremely healthy eater. Since we've been together I eat a lot healthier than I used to (and that's a good thing), but I still crave junk food. Out of curiousity, do your significant others (past or present) discourage unhealthy eating?

My wife does not support most chain restaurants, but I love the occasional chicken tender or burger meal, but I have to eat it alone and/or behind her back.

Love the podcast! If you guys ever take it on the road and swing through Oklahoma, there's a local chain here called Braum's that is tasty. Great burgers and ice cream. You can find a handful of them on the outskirts of Dallas too. Howdy Ho to Spoon Nation!
