"Robeks with Ben Rodgers" is Episode 425 of Doughboys, hosted by Nick Wiger and Mike Mitchell. "Robeks with Ben Rodgers" was released on November 30, 2023.
Synopsis[]
Ben Rodgers joins the 'boys to discuss action movies, movie theatre experiences, and Buffalo eats before a review of Robeks. Plus, a crunchy Snack or Wack.
Nick's intro[]
The 68th Academy Awards held in 1996 in Los Angeles produced two big winners: Mel Gibson and Kevin Spacey. Gibson took home surprise Best Director and Picture Oscars for his Scottish independence epic Braveheart, while Spacey’s performance as “Verbal” Kint in the Christopher McQuarrie-penned crime thriller The Usual Suspects won him a widely expected Best Supporting Actor trophy that catapulted him to movie stardom.
Also in 1996 in Los Angeles, away from the glitz and grime of Hollywood, in the LAX-adjacent neighborhood of Westchester, David Robertson, a Harvard-educated Wall Street investment banker, opened a juice bar targeted as his fellow health-nut Angelenos. The single store quickly grew into a chain, and became a fixture of strip malls and food courts. Akin to faded trendsetters like Pinkberry, Robertson’s blended fruit broker was once a hotspot frequented by celebrities, with paparazzi snapping photos of Hayden Christensen and Ashley Tisdale emerging with plastic cups of liquid calories.
Like fellow SoCal original and current sector kingpin Jamba, in recent years, the chain Sean Parker’d away its “Juice” suffix to reflect its more well-rounded modern menu of bowls and toasts. Currently with 91 locations, this juicery has survived the low-carb craze and the entrance of fancy pants competitors like Pressed and Qwench to continue to thrive among thirsty fitness freaks and sugar fiends alike.
Meanwhile fellow 1996 breakouts Gibson and Spacey — as well Usual Suspects director Bryan Singer — have had less luck surviving into the present day.

The Doughboys did share a photo of the Fig & Prosciutto Toast (see below), but did not mention who ordered it. Casey also had a Peanut Butter & Banana Toast.
Snack or Wack[]
In Snack or Wack, The Doughboys have a snack and rate it either 'snack' or 'wack.'
For this episode, they try Cheetos Cheddar Pretzels and Cheetos Flamin' Hot Pretzels.
All found the flavors strange on a pretzel and were a little baffled by them; they preferred the Flamin' Hot but both were Wack.
