Nick's intro[]
Boo-yah!
If youβve watched American sports since the nineties, youβve probably heard βboo-yah!β invoked to emphasize a particularly sensational play, for instance a nasty dunk. βBoo-yah!β was an innovation of the late, great Stuart Scott, an ESPN Sportscenter anchor who popularized the seemingly nonsense word, among other notable catchphrases, which included βAs cool as the other side of the pillowβ and βJust call him butter 'cause he's on a roll.β
Stuart Scott
But prior to Scott introducing βboo-yahβ into the sports lexicon, the word had history in the American midwest, where, perhaps only coincidentally, the influential sportscaster was born. In the mid-19th century, Belgian immigrants arrived in Wisconsin, and brought with them a chicken stew that was given the name βboo-yah.β While the exact etymology is unknown, speculation is it either came from the French word 'bouillon', or the Walloon word 'bouyu' β Walloon a dying language that was more widely spoken by the working class in previous centuries.
One hundred and fifty years later, in 1997, a Belgian chain restaurant founded in the capital of Brussels made its way stateside, its French-language name translating as βThe Daily Bread.β And while βboo-yahβ is not on the menu, it does boast an array of soups to compliment its wheat-centric offerings, eaten in-store at its signature communal table.
With our focus just on hot-liquid calories, will The Daily Breadβs daily soups make us say βboo-yah?β Or βboo, nah?β
This week on Doughboysβ¦ we continue Crock-Dough-Burn-Pho-Est 2025 ππ, a soup-er sized month of bisques, broths, stews, and stocks (and crocs)... with the soups of Le Pain Quotidien.

I started eating pie pie |
β |
This segment is when Nick presents a mystery pie and a series of clues, and Mitch and the guest try to guess the flavor. To aid their guess they are allowed to Ask Gemi or smell the pie without seeing it.
For this episode, the pie was a pumpkin pie.
Mitch and Christine knew it right away off the first clue and said it together, both winning. Mitch gave the pie to Christine because he doesn't like pumpkin pie.
