"Tomorrow on the Double... Nick Ross joins us for a culinary trip north of the border" - @doughboyspod

Synopsis[]

Lifelong Canadian and writer/artist Nick Ross (The Observer, College Humor) visits with a treasure trove of treats from our neighbor to the north. It's a special episode length O Canada edition of Snack or Wack.

Snack or Wack: O Canada edition 🇨🇦[]

As the synopsis indicates, Nick Ross, who is from Alberta, Canada, brought a "Queen's bounty" of Canadian snacks for The Doughboys. (A few of the snacks had also been mailed in by Canadian fan, Barry Lam.) They call the segment a 'snack or wack,' but tasted everything prior to the episode, and don't really rate them individually.

First, The Doughboys start in Savory Country, and they try a variety of chips: Lay's Ketchup, Old Dutch Dill Pickle, and Ruffles All Dressed Assaisonnées. They also have Hostess Hickory Sticks.

Next, they move to Sweet Town with Cadbury Mr. Big, Eat-More Dark Toffee Peanut Chew, Maynards Swedish Berries, Nestle Big Turk, Maynards WineGums, Cadbury Crispy Crunch, Cadbury Wunderbar, an illegal Kinder Surprise, Nestle Aero, Cadbury CaraMilk, Cadbury Coffee Crisp, Cadbury Crunchie, Maltesers, and Smarties. Lastly, they have some Vachon Granny's Butter & Raisin Tarts.

Nick also brought some Girl Scout Cookies for some reason: Samoas and Tagalongs.

The Doughboys opt to choose their three favorites of the Canadian snacks, because Canada has three territories.

Nick and Mitch added that they'd put the Girl Scout Cookies right into second place, if they could include American treats.

Quotes[]

Mitch: The cat's out of the bag... and in the bedroom.

Nick: What do you mean by that?
Mitch: "The cat's out of the bag" is a saying.
Nick: OK. We were talking about your literal cats, so I didn't know if you had some sort of transport bag that you keep them in.

–The Doughboys riffing

I've never drank from a bull's dick before.

–Mike Mitchell

I'm not into these hybrid doughnut/ice-cream places. I'm like, you're combining breakfast and dessert. These are different things. I know that it's all under the umbrella of "sweet treats," but I'm still just... a doughnut shop should not be an ice cream shop. We gotta keep these things separate.

–Nick Wiger's outrage

Hold on! I'm not gonna stick my fingers in some communal dip. If it's my own bowl... maybe.

–Nick Wiger

Nick: I'm like, man, this is like no pie I know...

Mitch: ...slash cupcake you know.

–Cupcakes are pie
