Yusong's Doughboys Film Class Assignment[]
In the last Feedbag episode, Yusong was assigned to watch Back To The Future. He did, and wrote a short essay about it.
“ | Are we going Back to the Future or back to the past to examine the foundational roots of American cinema? In this essay, I will describe my fresh, modern look at a classic piece of film from the eyes of an avocado-toast-eating, Minecraft-playing, VR-porn-watching youngster.
Secondly, obviously there are parts of this film that don't age well, but here's where I learned something really interesting about myself. Am I able to enjoy the film while contextualizing the good with the bad? YES! But for every movie I've had to turn off because I'm in a marginalized group that they are directly mocking, like Breakfast at Tiffany's, there are movies like this where there are moments that affect people like me and I still want to cry on their behalf - needlessly empathetic, dubiously productive tears, but I believe if we all did... if we all sat and cried like this, the world would be a better place. In conclusion, I liked it. And I liked how horny the mom was in a Freudian sexual way. I genuinely enjoyed it and thank you for recommending it. |

Quotes[]
“ | I fancy myself as something of a whistler. | ” |
–Nick Wiger |
“ | With whistling, let's just say I dismantled you. | ” |
–Mike Mitchell |
“ | Back then, 'retweeting' was repeating a whistle you heard. | ” |
–Nick Wiger re: his grandfather being a great whistler too |
